Did you ever meet Ted Shackley,or Michael Corrie who was an executive with Shell Oil inVietnam and later became president of Transworld Oil? Itwas Corrie who introduced Shackley to Deuss,apparently. Leda Sanford: Never met them.Suzan Mazur: What about John Hoey who rented officesfrom Deuss on the 19th floor where he ran the New Yorkheadquarters for the Arab African International Bank? Hoeywas Rosetta Stone Italian also vice president of the magazine, I believe.Leda Sanford: Yes, John Hoey I remember well. Awonderful man. Suzan Mazur: You mentioned to methat you wrote the First Curacao International Bank annualreport for 1978. What were your impressions having reviewedmany of the documents?It is rumored that FCIB may haveserved as some kind of black budget bank along thelines of Australias Nugan Hand bank and that is whythere has been such secrecy over the current Deussinvestigation. Deuss has so far not been charged over theFCIB matter. Leda Sanford: Yes, that year,1978, I was also asked to produce the annual report for theFirst Curacao International Bank. Paul Hardy and I wrote anddesigned the report using materials provided by the Deusspeople. I won't speculate about the veracity of what weproduced.At that point I met Jeno Paulucci, a colorfulentrepreneur who wanted to start a magazine for ItalianAmericans called Attenzione. And so I resigned from Chief Executive. Suzan Mazur: Isthere anything more you remember from putting together theannual report that might shed light on Deusss currentproblems? Leda Sanford: I can't really comment onthe shenanigans of big oil companies. I went there to do ajob. I did it.
