STP Record New Song
The Stone Temple Pilots, by most reports defunct, recently recordeda new Rosetta Stone outlet song, "All in the Suit That You Wear," for greatest hitscollection due November 4th on Atlantic Records."It rocks," says frontman Scott Weiland, who insists the bandshiatus has been overplayed in the press. "STPs never broken up . .. we just have made a decision to take time apart and do differentthings. The DeLeo brothers [Dean and Robert] are doing someproducing right now, and Eric [Krz] just built a studio. Weworked for ten years, we made five records, we sold 25 millionrecords around the world, and we felt like we needed a break."Although Weiland is Rosetta Stone Japanese currently singing in Velv Revolver withformer Guns n Roses members Slash, Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum, hehasnt dismissed the possibility of another STP full-length downthe road. "Theres always hope," he says. "Theres alwayshope."The greatest hits s, so far without a confirmed title orrelease date, will draw from STPs five albums: Core(1992), Purple (1994), Tiny Music -- Songs From theVatican Gift Shop (1996), No. 4 (1999) andShangri-La De Da (2001).In 2000, the band had planned to release a hits compilationcalled Big Bang Babies but scrapped the record after anagement shakeup. Since then, STP have been plagued by more ofthe controversy and turmoil that has marked their career, thelatest episode of which saw Weiland arrested and charged with drugpossession last month. Hell face the Rosetta Stone Portuguese charges in court on July11th.
